An amazing book! The imagination that went into the description of the Wonders is just awesome. I found myself going back and rereading the descriptions....just so I wouldn't miss a single thing. And at the same time I found that I cared so much about what happened to Columbia. The author developed her character in just the right way. As a reader, I found that I was really pulling for her to overcome all the obstacles that were in her way ( and there were many of those!). And without giving anything away, I loved Galaxy. All of the characters were interesting--each in a different way. This is a book that is fun to read, imaginative and challenges the reader to think and question. I hope many other readers will enjoy this book as much as I have.... and I will certainly look forward to other books by Mr. Sharman.Product details

THE THEORY OF MY WONDERS is the most unexpected love story. It's surreal without being far-fetched, thought-provoking without being preachy.
There are seven new Wonders of the World and young Columbia Channyn is invited to them all. Each Wonder is a delight, from the enormous machine that "nearly steps on a zebra and accidentally kicks a lion" to other, more sinister creations. Columbia doesn't know who is building the Wonders or who keeps sending her the invitations.
Her life is tough. She's living without her parents and is surrounded by bullies. As she escapes to visit the Wonders, she develops theories - among them theories of change, dying, falling, cruelty and fear. Every theory is tested, and if Columbia can survive the Wonders, she will learn what it is to be human.
I was drawn in by every Wonder as much as Columbia, and I was held by her complexity and realism, despite the fantasy setting. This is a story packed with imaginative ideas, told by an enchanting, surprising narrator.
A pleasant surprise. I had no idea what the book would be about however it had an interesting cover. I found the story to be compelling. A young man attempts to support the betterment of his love interest through a series of wonders which become instead trials and tribulations. A cautionary tale as life would have it what we intend may not be the outcome of what we do-prepare for the manifestation and opportunity to change course.
This book impressed me. I have been buying books like a madwoman on recently trying to find something awesome, but have so far been bored.
Theory of my Wonders made me regain some faith in fiction. Exciting and insightful with a unique way of building the characters and storyline. Columbia is such an intriguing character and I enjoyed taking the same journey of discovery that she did (at least I felt like I did) I was lucky enough to win a signed copy of this book via Pankhearst and it far surpassed expectations. I feel lucky, because I think I own a work of art that will be worth quite a bit once more people discover it. Don't even get me started on how cool of a movie this would be if it was scripted. More people need to read this! Tell your friends.
I enjoyed this book because despite its futuristic and fantasy-like story, its thoughtful details make it realistic and relatable.
An intriguing love story with interesting central characters who evolve as the story progresses. Creative use of narration written in 1st and 3rd person. I would recommend this for teenagers and adults.
I am not typically a sci-fi/futuristic fan but I was immediately intrigued by the world that Mr. Sharman created and wanted to know more. The new seven wonders captured my attention and were described in such a way that I could easily imagine what they looked like and made me wish I could visit. The relationships that Columbia develop along her journey keep the story personal and are told in such a way that you have to keep reading to see how they unfold. I recommend Mr. Sharman's book.
