A tale of people traveling across America. I was surprised to read a dialogue, the longest in the whole book, said by an older woman who wrote erotica novels. In this dialogue she ranted about those who leave negative reviews of the book they just read. It was just like product placement and felt like it was directed to me the reader. Reviews are what help an author get feedback, even if it is not what they want to hear. Good reviews on Amazon result in books sales and money for the author. I don't believe an editor would have approved this dialogue being retained in this book. Having said this, the story was engaging. I finished the book and was not surprised at the ending, though it was good to know that all would turn out okay. There were a lot of loose ends. For example, the guy in the hoodie who called himself H - was he Harry Styles? I did like that people helped each other.

This book is a very entertaining, non-hardcore apocalypse story, so don't expect extreme graphic violence or truckloads of advanced weapons. It's more lighthearted with amusing and warm moments. The stranded British tourists try to fit in but are sometimes puzzled or amazed by our unfamiliar customs. The characters are all very human (sorry, no zombies), including ones who are so irritating or self-serving that you look forward to somebody killing them. The ending has a surprising twist. Harry Styles and the New York Apocalypse was a nice change of pace and even appropriate for younger teens.
